Students commonly experience anxiety about getting ready for college: college entrance essays, the AP essays, college scholarship essays, multiple choice practice, and choosing a college.
As an AP English teacher and a tutor, my specialty is meeting a student where they are right now and breaking complex material into bite-size pieces. Students struggle with understanding how to find a multiple choice answer in the text or writing convincing essays on a variety of topics in a variety of persuasive styles. I assess what the student does well and help them to build their knowledge and skills.
Finally, I served as a “reader” for many years for the College Board Scoring AP Language and Literature essays. This experience gives me special insight into the scoring for college entrance essays (AP, SAT, ACT).
